Notes

ABOUT THE ALBUM
Four men...ten instruments and a keen sense of inventiveness makes for a lot of NEW SOUNDS. Versatility is the word for this very flexible group, able to span the generation gap of today's music aficionados. Modern jazz, rock, soul and (of course) Dixieland are interspersed with exotic Latin rhythms - a diversified collection, all especially arranged by Paul to satisfy the most discerning taste in music.

ABOUT THE GROUP
New Orleans-born PAUL GUMA has the unique talent of being equally adept on guitar, clarinet, and saxophone. Possessor of a Master's degree in music, his background includes playing with symphony, opera and dance orchestras; arranging, conducting and teaching. However, it is his superb guitar technique which displays best the full scope of his musicianship. Known around the country as guitarist with Pete Fountain for five years, Paul formed his own group and plays the kind of music that is making its mark on the N.O. scene.

Hawaiian-born, FRITZ OWENS started playing the piano at 3, the organ at 10 and the vibes at 17. Received his B.M. from Notre Dame and has played professionally in Honolulu, Las Vegas, Florida and N.O. at Al Hirt's, Roosevelt and The Court of Two Sisters. Fritz displays imaginative skill as a musician and as the composer of "November Wind."

Practically every name act that has played in N.O. is familiar with the inventive drumming of Louis Timken. Lou has played with the best local Dixieland groups, West Coast combos, Al Hirt, Pete Fountain and at the Playboy Club. A skilled technician with lightning hands, Lou has a penchant for superimposing complex rhythms in any type of beat.

AMADO RODRIGUEZ'S ability to produce a big driving bass sound has made him an integral member of the best N.O. bands, notably Al Hirt, Louis Prima and Sam Butera. After many years on the neon circuit of Las Vegas, Reno and Lake Tahoe, Rod returned to his birthplace to become a charter member of Paul's group.

ABOUT THE TOP OF THE MART
The world's largest revolving lounge, atop the new 33-floor International Trade Mart, located where broad and brilliant Canal Street meets the banks of the mighty Mississippi. A room with a view...an incomparable view by day...a breathless panorama of lights by . A place to relax...a way to unwind, a vantage point form which to identify the many famous landmarks that make up New Orleans. This quiet, elegant setting is open from morning through twilight and into the night hours, gently orbiting around a stationary center bar like a record on a giant turntable to give you a full 360 degrees of lasting impressions in ninety memorable minutes.
