The recording was made in Vienna.

Part of RCA's "Soria" series, the 3-LP box set includes a 4-color, 12” x 12”, 68-page perfect bound book printed in Italy, featuring the full libretto and many photos and color illustrations;

The hinged box is made of thick cardboard and covered in heavy, textured yellow paper, with de-bossed lettering and an illustration of Carmen glued on.

The set includes RCA pink printed, poly-lined, inner sleeves to hold the LPs, The labels are the style used in the RCA UK SB classical series, being the Black spot Grooved type , and due to the majority of sides having 1G stampers, this is believed to be the earliest pressing and label available from the UK issue
The stereo recording (assessed as an american pressing) is on the TAS list, a list audiophile recordings produced by the editors of The Absolute Sound magazine.
