These performances were recorded in Los Angeles October-November 1967 at TTG Studios.

Tracks 1 to 4 were released as the 1971 LP "Mirror Man".
By this time the band had adopted the moniker 'Captain Beefheart And The Magic Band'. That LP (and re-releases like this CD) therefore uses the earlier moniker 'Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band'.

The remaining five tracks appeared previously on the 1992 compilation "I May Be Hungry But I Sure Ain't Weird".
