Notes
Recording ℗ 1984, made between September and December 1982 in Studio 1, Prague Radio.Foerster's opera is based on Gabriela Preissová's play Gazdina roba (The Innkeeper's Daughter). The 80-page accompanying booklet includes the libretto, a commentary and the recording artists' biographies, translated into English, German and French. It also contains numerous photographs and other illustrations relating to Foerster's life, the opera's première and its performance history. There is a full list, in Czech and English only, of productions, recordings and broadcasts of Eva, compiled by Jan Králík, who also selected the photographs. The latter are credited to the Central Archives of the National Theatre, to private archives, and to the tenor and theatre photographer Jaromír Svoboda (1917-1992).
A number of copyrighted credits given at the end of the booklet are © 1984. These include "graphical arrangement" (Ivanka Zichová); "interpreters' photos" (Pavel Dosoudil, Pavel Horník); "commentary" (Eva Hermannová); "interpreter's [sic] biographies" (Králík); "translations" (Bedřiška Adamičková, Hana Tomková, Helena Pospíšilová, Kamil Šlapák, Richard Kolář, Tamara Stočesová); and translations of the libretto into English (Helena Blažková), French (Vladimír Bozděch) and German (Bedřiška Adamičková). The cover photo (Horník) and design (Zichová) are also © 1984.
The odd-numbered labels of my copy carry the numbers "85 2", indicating a date of manufacture in the second half of 1985.
